Mug
Just completed an illustration for John O'Marra's poem book, Chocolate Chips and Rocket Ships. This is such a cool project: 100 poems illustrated by 100 different artists. Check it out!
This is the first thing I've really made since my move to Columbus. It's totally great here, and I even have a huge room entirely devoted to being a studio space. Attached is a not very glamorous photo of what part of that space looks like, BUT I LOVE IT!

New Beginnings
I've spent the last month moving from Raleigh to Columbus to start teaching full-time as an assistant professor at CCAD. So far Columbus has been great - lots of good food, good people, cool stores (can you believe there is a stationery store just blocks from my apartment?!) After four weeks, my belongings still haven't been delivered to me thanks to those bastards at American Van Lines, but that hasn't stopped me from buying all new art supplies and making some paintings to adorn the many many walls in my apartment. Feels great to use traditional media. It's been such a long long time. These were modeled from vintage photos of Catherine Deneuve and Alain Delon that I googled.

Her Heart Was Bionic
I've wanted to do some Anna / Gaston "movie posters" for some time now. I have a few more ideas in the works, but here is the first one, inspired by the poster for "This Gun For Hire."

Future Worlds Character Updates
One more iteration on the Future Worlds avatars. We decided that the female characters from my previous version needed to be cuter to appeal to the pre-teen audience plus a couple little changes on the other characters to make them more cohesive.

Future Worlds Character Designs
Here are a couple iterations of character designs for a game we are making at Intellimedia. The game will be delivered on a giant touch screen and can be played by several children at the same time. These are possibilites for the avatars the children can choose from.
Originally I had designed these amorphic blobs and creatures based on themes from the game. After getting feedback from the team it was decided to take the shapes of the blobs and make them into human superheroes.

Whiz Palace
Here is the concept art and a test render from my next collaboration with Kirby Culbertson, "Whiz Palace." Its for the 11 Second Club's February competition, featuring a clip of Amy Poehler from Parks and Recreation. Like with the Flamingo project, I did the modeling, lighting, and rendering while Kirby is doing the animation and rigging. He set up some amazing rigs for the figures that we hope to reuse on another project.
Not While I'm Eating
Here is a look at the final render form our January 11 Second Club Competition, plus the concept art. I did the modeling, texturing, lighting and Kirby Culbertson did the rigging and animation.

Flamingos and Crocodiles
I'm teaming up with my schoolmate/coworker Kirby Culbertson for an 11 Second Challenge project. The January 2012 challenge is an aggressive sounding clip from an Indian film that we decided would make a fun scene with a lunatic Flamingo and a hungry Crocodile. My role was modeling, texturing, dynamics, and rendering. Kirby did all the rigging and will be animating the scene. Here are some images of the progress.
A few Mother images.
Here are some sneak peeks at my work in progress, "Mother." My thesis review date is March 27th which I am nervously anticipating. Just finishing will be a miracle.
